Case Studies
Every journey we plan is shaped around the people taking it. Here are a few of the trips we have arranged for private clients, from a month-long voyage through the islands of Southeast Asia to a family Christmas deep in the Arctic forest. Each one shows the brief we were given, the complexity behind it, and how it all came together.
Case Study 01
Private Wilderness & Rare Access: 17 Days Across Kenya & South Africa
Situation
A 17-day journey across Africa’s most extraordinary wildernesses, combining the private estates of Kenya’s Laikipia and the remote, otherworldly terrain of Lake Turkana with the biodiverse ecosystems of the Greater Kruger.
Complexity
An ambitious multi-country expedition that secured exclusive-use private residences within protected conservancies, managed multi-generational family dynamics, and coordinated remote cross-border aviation, including helicopter logistics across uncharted landscapes.
Outcome
The family experienced a side of Africa rarely accessible by traditional travel. They flew by private helicopter across the dramatic, volcanic Suguta Valley and Lake Turkana, charted stars with specialist astronomers beneath the Kenyan night sky, and gained privileged behind-the-scenes access to world-leading black rhino conservation operations. Private air charters connected secluded private wildlife estates, making the journey feel entirely spontaneous. It was a rare, deeply personal journey into the heart of Africa’s finest safari destinations.
Case Study 02
Island Archipelago & Rainforest Expedition: Southeast Asia
Situation
A 24-day multi-country expedition across Malaysia, Indonesia, Malaysian Borneo, Brunei, and Singapore for a private family with members joining and departing at different stages.
Complexity
Coordinating intricate multi-destination logistics, from securing a secluded five-bedroom rainforest estate in Langkawi and overland transfers into Borneo’s isolated Danum Valley to an eight-night private charter of a 51-metre traditional phinisi yacht with a crew of 18 across remote islands.
Outcome
The family experienced an extraordinarily rare, little-explored side of Southeast Asia far beyond the familiar luxury circuits. Aboard their private phinisi, they navigated the volcanic waters of Komodo National Park, tracked Komodo dragons with specialist park rangers, travelled by boat through Brunei’s Temburong rainforest, and were welcomed into a private stilt home in historic Kampong Ayer. The effortless transition across four destinations let the family explore remote marine and ancient forest ecosystems at their own unhurried pace.
Case Study 03
Arctic Winter: Sweden, Finland & Denmark
Situation
An extraordinary 14-day festive journey across Stockholm, the Swedish Archipelago, Finnish Lapland, and Copenhagen for a private family over Christmas.
Complexity
Coordinating peak-season holiday logistics across three countries, including multiple private flights between remote winter airstrips, securing exclusive-use historic townhouses and a 12-suite Arctic wilderness residence, and negotiating off-hours access to cultural institutions during the holiday period.
Outcome
The family enjoyed a festive winter wonderland season in complete privacy. In Stockholm and Copenhagen, they explored the Vasa Museum with its Research Director, gained access to restricted halls inside the Royal Palace, met privately with celebrated Sámi artist Tomas Colbengtson, and toured the Louisiana Museum alongside a senior curator. They flew to Lapland by private aircraft and spent Christmas completely secluded within 300 hectares of private Arctic forest, enjoying private lake ice-swimming, traditional sauna rituals, and the Northern Lights.
